🌟 New to GAMT?

Welcome to the revolutionary Glyph Assisted Memory Technique - your gateway to effortless learning and enhanced memory retention

🚀 What is GAMT?

GAMT stands for Glyph Assisted Memory Technique — a revolutionary learning method developed and refined over more than two decades that incorporates creativity and fun into your learning routine.

At its core, GAMT is a simple yet powerful technique where your chosen keywords are converted into a unique line drawing — a GAMT image. This image acts as a memory trigger, dramatically improving how deeply and how long you remember the topic.

🧠 Understanding GAMT

💡 How does it work?

When you're reading a topic, you choose the key concepts or keywords that will help you remember it.

You can then take the first letter or a key letter from each word and enter them into the GAMT tool.

The system uses these letters (called attributes) to generate a GAMT image — a line drawing where each stroke visually represents one attribute.

For example, if part of the image looks like the letter C, that means the attribute C is part of your keyword list.

🛠️ What do I need to enter?

You can input 5 to 9 attributes (letters from your keywords).

There are 3 ways to enter them — Attribute Mode, Word Mode, and Topic Mode (explained below).

⚡ Why is it powerful?

Instead of memorizing 7 or 8 separate keywords, you just memorize one simple image.

This image lets you recall all the linked concepts at once by tapping into multiple proven memory strategies — from the drawing effect to the power of association and the picture superiority effect. These principles work together to enhance retention and make recall almost effortless.

📚 What makes it scientifically powerful?

GAMT is grounded in memory science, drawing on research summarized in the official GAMTpedia. Here's why it works:

  • Power of association: GAMT helps you link abstract concepts with simple visuals. This connection strengthens your ability to recall even complex material.
  • Picture superiority effect: Scientific studies show we remember images far better than text. GAMT transforms your keywords into a single visual cue for fast recall.
  • Drawing effect: Research shows that drawing improves memory far more than reading, writing, or visualizing alone. When you sketch — even mentally — you combine motor action, visual processing, and semantic thinking.
  • Sudoku on steroids: It's not just learning — it's playful and challenging. Each GAMT image is like a puzzle that stimulates curiosity and creative problem solving.
  • The "Flow state": The act of generating or reviewing a GAMT image can put you in the zone — where focus, learning, and enjoyment come together.
  • Deep learning strategies: GAMT encourages you to think, choose, and connect. This is active learning — not passive — and it leads to better retention and deeper understanding.

🎯 How to Use the GAMT Search Tool

🔤 Attribute Mode
Use letters to represent keywords. Perfect for quick attribute-based memory triggers.
Example: Causes of Hypothyroidism
Keywords: Hashimoto's, Iodine deficiency, Surgery, Amiodarone, Congenital causes
H, I, S, A, C
Attribute Mode Example
Attribute Mode GAMT Example
📝 Word Mode
Use real words instead of letters. The system uses the first letter of each word as the attribute.
Example: Test for Negligence
Keywords: Duty, Breach, Causation, Remoteness, Damage
D, B, C, R, D

📚 Topic Mode
Group words under a common theme to help organize structured content visually.
Example: Classification of Living Organisms
Keywords: Plantae, Animalia, Fungi, Protista, Monera

🧠 GAMT Recall Strategy

📁 Organization & Memory Management

Proper organization and recall timing are crucial for maximizing GAMT effectiveness:

  • • Create folders by subject (Biology, History)
  • • Use subfolders for topics (Cell Biology, Genetics)
  • • Name GAMTs with clear, specific titles

🎯 "First day, next 7 days, and every Sunday" rule

  • • Recall as many times as possible the first day
  • • At least once the next 7 days and then once a week recall

This spaced repetition strategy leverages the psychological spacing effect, ensuring your GAMT memories transition from short-term to long-term retention effectively.
